When you arrive at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) you are around 10km/6.2 miles from the center of Spain’s capital city of Madrid. There are many options for transfer to the city center, or to other areas of Madrid, or anywhere in Spain. One of these options is to take the bus.
There are two types of buses trafficking the distance between Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), and there are three different long distance coach companies to take you to other areas of Spain.
City buses
There are several city bus lines servicing the airport terminals and Madrid City.
Route 101 runs from terminals T1, T2 and T3 to the Canillejas transport hub which has connections to several city and intercity routes and the Madrid Metro system.

A single one-way ticket costs 1.50€ and can only be bought in cash on the bus with a 5€ note or change, larger notes can, and likely will, be refused.
Línea Exprés (line 203) runs between the Atocha-RENFE transport hub in Madrid and terminals T1, T2 and T4. The Atocha-RENFE transport hub is located near the main museums, and Paseo del Arte, and the ride takes 40 minutes in normal traffic conditions.

Route 200: Runs between the Madrid Airport terminals T1, T2, T3 and T4 and the Avenida de América transport hub, with connections to several city and intercity buses, as well as the Madrid Metro system.
